About the Journal

STUDIES IN NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES (SNAPS) aims to promote and bring together quality scientific work and ideas from a wide range of disciplines and methodologies in both natural and applied sciences. This peer-reviewed, open-access journal aims to serve as a springboard for science advancements, scientific capacity building, and integrative knowledge exchange in the Philippines and the international audience.

SNAPS is the official science journal of the University of Southern Mindanao and the College of Science and Mathematics.

To ensure the quality of papers published by the new journal is scientifically sound and rigorous, the editorial board is led and composed of experienced and published editors and reviewers from their respective fields. The journal is composed of a multidisciplinary set of editorial boards working in applied, natural sciences, and mathematics.

THE AIM OF THE JOURNAL IS TO PROMOTE SCIENCE PUBLICATION AS AN ACADEMIC PRACTICE AND CULTURE. The journal will serve as a training venue for students and early careers as a start-up in writing and publishing their scientific work. The philosophy of the journal will adhere to developing an author-friendly journal, particularly for students, young academics, and early career researchers (ECRs) and to look for reasons to publish rather than reject at the same maintaining scientific quality and rigor. The journal will adhere to the highest ethical standards in the editorial and review process.

AT SNAPS, WE ENVISION THAT WITHIN 5 YEARS the journal will become one of the emerging science journals in the Philippines and will reach internationalization by publishing quality work of authors within the country and abroad. To ensure the balanced and quality of the works that we publish in SNAPS, we will follow a journal and publishing model that is transparent, inclusive, diverse, and collaborative. We aim to index SNAPS to the Directory of Open-Access Journals (DOAJ), Google Scholar, Web of Science, ASEAN Scopus, and other indexing systems within this period.

Scope of the Journal

Studies in Natural and Applied Sciences is an open-access scientific journal that aims to publish peer-reviewed studies relevant to the advancement of science and technology in Mindanao and the Philippines. The journal aims to publish ideas and perspectives addressing important issues in natural and applied sciences in the Philippines.

The journal's scope is interdisciplinary and integrative encompassing a wide suite of areas in natural and physical sciences, agricultural sciences, applied mathematics, engineering, communication sciences, and social sciences. The SNAPS will strictly follow double blind-review by the standards of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). The journal will publish full-text articles, short communications, reviews and syntheses, and forums or perspectives in three issues in a single volume annually. The journal will also publish the SNAP Scientific Minds, a student research section every year to feature student research and outputs.

To reduce our carbon footprint emission all issues will be published and archived electronically online. The journal also welcomes hosting of conference proceedings and co-editorship of special issue series.
